Corner Chisel 3/8″
$327.00
Producing square mortises is exacting work.
The Corner Chisel, used after the mortise has been roughed out by hand or with a slot mortiser—which produces round-edged mortises—helps square corners easily and precisely.
Our Corner Chisels are made from A2 Tool Steel, hardened to Rockwell 60-62, cryogenically treated and double tempered. Hard Maple handles.
Blade length is 5-3/4″, overall length is 9-5/8″.

How it’s used:
Prepare the recess
First, remove most of the waste with a router, drill, or regular chisel, leaving the rounded inside corners.
Position the corner chisel
Place the chisel so its internal angle matches the corner you want to square. Its L-shaped blade will be flush with both adjoining faces.
Strike with a mallet
Give it a firm tap (or two) with a wooden or rubber mallet. The chisel’s geometry cuts both sides at once, creating a clean right angle.
Remove waste
Lift out the little triangular offcut, and you’re left with a sharp, square inside corner.
Tips:
Keep it razor sharp — dull edges crush fibers instead of slicing them.
Use it only for final squaring, not for hogging out lots of material.
Always keep it perpendicular to the surface to avoid a tilted corner.
